Regardless of your intellectual positions regarding the issues related to Global Warming, one cannot ignore the momentum of Green initiatives. Previously, I posted on how a Home Theater installation utilized Solar Panels as a green alternative for the power. Going through my Tweets, I stumbled upon a Fast Company article referring to "Micro-Grid." This is another thought provoking piece further propelling the Green initiatives.
I liked the first bullet point about finding the money. The tax incentives are incredibly attractive to offset the capital investment required to begin going green. Later in the article it identified common sense enhancements of the home to improve efficiency. I'm sure that I am like most home owners, that we intuitively know these tasks, but many fall down on the Honey Do List.
The final bullet was selling your overcapacity back onto the power grid. I can imagine a time when small developments, working with an association will attempt to become their own cooperative, co-generating their own power. Wait, we are a democracy, requiring a majority representation and approval. Maybe this can happen when we actually run out of oil.
